National Recall Announced
In a joint effort to protect public health, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and state and local partners have been investigating an outbreak of Listeria monocytogenes infections that has been potentially linked to certain ice cream products.
On August 9, 2023, Real Kosher Ice Cream initiated a voluntary recall of all flavors of their Soft Serve On The Go ice cream cups. Subsequently, on August 30, 2023, The Ice Cream recalled a total of 91 different dessert products, including ice cream cups, sandwiches, and cones, due to possible Listeria contamination.
To date, two individuals in New York and Pennsylvania have been hospitalized with listeria infections that may be associated with the outbreak. The investigation is ongoing to determine if there are any additional cases and the specific source of the contamination.
Consumers who have purchased any of the recalled products are advised to discard them immediately and contact their healthcare provider if they experience any symptoms of listeria infection, such as fever, muscle aches, nausea, or diarrhea.
